A bit about us:
A rare opportunity has arisen at King’s Lodge one of our cooks is retiring and we need to replace her with someone with just as much skill in pleasing our pupils’ taste buds.
About the role:
You don’t have to be experienced at cooking for large numbers. However, you do need to be
- Able and willing to cook and taste the meat dishes
- Bake cakes and make pastry dishes
- Enthusiastic about the role and willing to support menu planning in line with school food guidance
- Willing to learn the way in which the kitchen runs in order to step up to the lead position if our head cook is absent
- Lift the pots and pans when they are full and transfer them to sinks from the cooker
- Stand for long periods of time as the tasks mean you are on your feet for the whole shift

As part of the interview process you will
- cook in the school kitchen in order for us to ascertain whether your cooking skills are what we need
- have a face to face interview.
Hours of work: 25 hours per week
Contract type: Permanent
Rate of Pay: £11.59 to £11.98 per hour depending on experience.
(You will be paid for 38 weeks plus 5 TD days per year – NOT 52 weeks per year. The total pay is then paid across 12 months.)
