Starting School at Kings Lodge
When your child starts school, it is a big step for them and for you and we are here every step of the way to make sure you both feel happy, confident and safe when you join us.
We have designed our induction program to ensure your child has chance to become familiar and comfortable with the adults and school environment before they start in September.
Details of our Induction Programme
During the Summer Term, prior to starting school the following September, there are several parts of Induction that take place. These are detailed below:
- Parents are invited to attend an ‘Induction Meeting’ at school to meet meet the teachers, find out more about school life and look around the classrooms.
- Children and parents are invited to ‘Stay and Play’ times in school.
- Where possible children are invited to visit the school with their Key Workers if they are in a pre-school or nursery setting.
- The class teachers also visit both Forest Nursery and Pewsham Preschool to read stories to the children so that they become familiar with the adults in from their new setting.
- Children attend two induction sessions on their own towards the end of the academic year.
- 1:1 sessions take place with parents in September
- Children have a staggered start over the course of a few days followed by a session where they stay for lunch before starting full time.
